Minnie S. LaBelle age 75 of Cedar Rapids died in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a long illness. Born in Grant City Missouri March 9 1880 she lived in Ottumwa before moving to Cedar Rapids five years ago. Survived by daughter Mrs J F Anderson sister Mrs Inez Toole and a granddaughter. Funeral at Ottumwa’s Johnson funeral home Saturday at 1 30 p m. Dr H Hughes Dill to officiate. Burial in Shaul cemetery Ottumwa.
Henry W Lineweaver aged 74 died Friday morning at his home in Cedar Rapids area following a life that began near South English where he farmed with his wife Maude Artis whom he wed in 1898 He helped organize the Keokuk County Farm Bureau in 1918 serving as president until 1925 He was a Presbyterian and Mason He leaves his wife a son Gerald of Ames and a grandson Services Sunday at 2 pm at English River Church of the Brethren Burial in church cemetery Powell Funeral Home South English in charge of arrangements
Kenneth G Cronkhite 52 lifelong Cedar Rapids resident and World War II veteran died at his home 717 Sixth avenue SE Cedar Rapids after a lingering illness. Born December 7 1902 he is survived by his mother Mrs A J Cronkhite and brother Guerin R Cronkhite both of Cedar Rapids. Services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Monahan funeral home with Rev Frank Ward officiating burial in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Services for Mrs Matthew Kirst of 309 Twenty second Street NE Cedar Rapids who died Thursday are set for 1 30 p m Saturday in the Chapel of Memories with Rev R Franklin Galloway officiating Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Friends may call at the Sveigad chapel until noon Saturday
Services for Joseph H. Christian of 515 Eighth Street SE will be held at 1 30 p m Saturday in the Barta Hesser chapel with Rev Jack Oliver of First Christian church officiating. Burial is in Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
Al S. Johnson of Mineral Point received two concurrent seven year terms for false check charges in a case tried by Judge Floyd Philbrick. The sentences, related to checks for 796.25 and 617.90 dollars, were tied to earlier proceedings in Pocahontas and Linn counties, with Johnson having appeared four years ago to address the first charge and later pleading guilty to the second.
The will of Rebecca Krachmer who died March 30 was admitted to probate Friday. It names Lazar as executor without bond and trustee. The estate leaves $500 to an Orthodox Jewish Community Center and $500 to St. Luke's Hospital, plus personal effects and a life interest in a house at 526 Forest Drive SE for Lazar. After his death the house interest goes to daughter Celia Schaffer. The will sets up a 10 year trust for Lazar’s life and then distributes shares of Kratchmer Furniture Company to son Paul, with other financial provisions for daughters Sonia Pazdzensky and Renee Schaffer, held for education.
The Linn County Abstract Company will relocate from the courthouse basement to 113 Third Avenue SE on Saturday. The 90 year old firm has occupied a basement office since 1925 when the building opened, and the move frees space for county tax computing machines.
Lawrence B. Walker, 50, of 626 Fifth Avenue SW, was charged with drunk driving in a true information filed by County Attorney Willis A. Glassgow. Walker was arrested Thursday night by Deputy Sheriff Robert Barkwill after an officer said he drove erratically on Sixth Street SW near Sixteenth Avenue.
Harold Knapp and Marian Sager were bound over to the grand jury on charges of assault with intent to inflict great bodily injury. Knapp is held in the county jail in default of 1900 bond while Sager was released on her own recognizance after a tavern fight last Friday night with Marvin Law.

W Campbell of Anamosa operating Campbell Blacktop Company faces a petition alleging he signed a $3000 note on August 9 1954 and that the principal plus interest remains due. The filing names Campbell as borrower and cites the note as the basis for the claim.
The April term petit jury will not report Monday as scheduled. Clerk Arthur Axmear said no juries will be needed next week since trials have been disposed of or continued. The panel is to report Monday, April 25 at 9 a.m.
Daniel A. Skibinski, 31, of Independence, was jailed in Linn County on a false check charge and to be arraigned soon. He was picked up in Independence Thursday and taken to Linn County by the sheriff. A divorce suit by Jane R. Anderson against James K. was dismissed Thursday.

The White House said Admiral Felix B. Stump commander in chief Pacific will visit Augusta for a special report to President Eisenhower. Stump who commands the Seventh Fleet patrols off Formosa arrived in Washington for routine reports to the Navy and Defense Departments and was asked by the President to come to Augusta Saturday for a talk.
McKinley students present Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Trial by Jury at 8 in the school auditorium with a 40 member cast. Proceeds from The First National Bank of the operetta will go to the March of Dimes. Note suit filed against R. Students directing the production are Jack Lehman as producer and Fred Korensky as orchestra conductor.

Cedar Rapids health officials report March hepatitis cases fell to about half February’s total with 17 versus 34. Measles led with 138 cases, down from 210 in February. chicken pox 49, down from 53. mumps up by four to March total. Deaths were 66 in March, down from 72 in February, with 34 males and 32 females.
