Trade group disputes AARP study on drug price trends
The Manufacturers of America says the AARP report misleads by using general inflation and wholesale prices. It argues medical inflation shows a 4 percent rise in prescription drug prices versus 4.7 percent for other medical services, and notes rebates are excluded from wholesale prices. The group cites consumer price index as the correct measure and notes the 1999–2004 wholesale price rise of 35.1 percent, contrasting with 13.5 percent inflation, amid talks of drug importation legislation.

Coralville seeks operator for hotel conference center project
City officials said a new operator should be named within two to three months as Hyatt Starwood and Marriott are considered among several prospects. The council approved zoning tweaks to advance the project while public hearings showed little opposition. If no operator is found by June tensions could rise, and May 5 groundbreaking remains under consideration based on operator response.
