Wheat or Troops Must Be Sent To Japan
Boston AP Secretary of Agriculture Clinton P. Anderson says more American wheat will be shipped to Japan as an alternative to sending more troops to General MacArthur to avert possible food riots. He notes MacArthur demanded either wheat or soldiers and argues sending wheat is cheaper per calorie for civilians and soldiers. Anderson adds bread rationing may be avoided, but families will face 20 percent less fats and oils than in 1945.
