Trampoline inventor George Nissen dies at 96
George Nissen, the Blairstown native who invented the trampoline, died Wednesday in San Diego at age 96 after a period of illness. His daughters recalled his habit of handstands and joked he is likely jumping in heaven. He was born February 1, 1914, and married to Annie for 59 years.

Iowa Aged-Out Foster Youth Aid Programs Reach Across State
Iowa supports youths aging out of foster care through the Iowa Aftercare Network with over 2,000 participants since April 2002. As of March, 437 are enrolled, receiving up to 574 monthly in stipends if employed or studying. Local providers include Foundation 2 in Linn Benton and Jones counties and Four Oaks in Johnson County, plus a Transitional Living program helping with jobs taxes money and independence.
