Federal flood grants to Iowa cities total near 30 million

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will announce nearly 30 million dollars in federal Economic Development Administration grants for Iowa communities. Iowa City leads with 22 million to relocate a wastewater plant and 3 million for Dubuque Street and Park Road bridge work. Columbus Junction gets 2.9 million to move its water plant. Dubuque receives 1.5 million for a multilevel parking facility with eco features.

Demolition Firm Lands Cedar Rapids Contract Over Nine Bidders

D W Zinser Co led by David Zinser won a $7.7 million Cedar Rapids demolition contract for Sinclair Industrial site. The Walford company with about 35 employees is the area's largest demolition outfit and calls the 2008 flood a personal history project.
