States legalize suppressors for hunting and rising registrations
Data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives shows states began approving hunting suppressors in 2009. From 2009 to 2014, 79 percent of firearms applications were for suppressors. Transfer taxes in 2014 reached 31.8 million dollars. Silencer registrations rose from 494,452 in 2013 to 571,750 in 2014 and 792,282 in 2015.

Transportation work on busy roads begins Monday
Major road construction will start Monday along the Iowa City Cedar Rapids corridor. Projects target C Avenue NE between Blairs Ferry and Collins roads in Cedar Rapids, Interstate 380 northbound near Swisher, and Washington Street in downtown Iowa City to improve safety, function, and aesthetics and replace two worn bridge decks.

Crews will close A Avenue between Collins and Blairs Ferry for about six months. Two northbound bridge decks over the Iowa River on Highway 965 and adjacent rail lines will be replaced, causing lane reductions and traffic pattern shifts with lower speeds. Public Safety Death After Condo Fire Is Homicide
Cedar Rapids police say retired bus attendant Robyn Furmanski 62 died after a March 31 condo fire and may have suffered a traumatic injury beforehand. Autopsy indicates the death is being investigated as a homicide with at least one assailant involved. investigators do not believe the victim was targeted randomly.
