Odd pact gave D M man access to bank bonds in Iowa
Iowa banking chief calls a December agreement between Des Moines broker Gary Lewellyn and his father the Humboldt bank president an oddity. The pact allegedly granted Lewellyn access to about 9 million dollars in government bonds tied to a 16.7 million dollar bank failure. Federal regulators accuse Lewellyn of misappropriating millions. the bank later reopened under a state charter.
