Auto thieves caught after Cedar Rapids chase
Quick work by Town City and Iowa City police nab two Chicago youths, Eugene Swan and James Balicke, after a stolen Ford sedan rolled over on a highway north of town. The suspects were arrested at a Conklin farm near Coralville with aid from Deputy Sheriff Koser and local officers. The theft began at 805 am when Claud Gus reported his Ford at 211 Tenth Avenue SW missing. The car was recovered damaged, and a plan to compile an alphabetical list of license owners was announced to speed future recoveries.
