Threaten Filibuster To Force Labor Act Change

A coalition of conservative Democrats and Republicans warned that they will filibuster adjournment unless Congress quickly amends the National Labor Relations Act. Over fifty senators and many representatives back amendments this session, with only the three NLRB members’ retirement and agency restructuring likely delaying them. House Chairman Mary T. Mrs Grant York of Ladora was reelected chairman of the Iowa County Conference of the American Legion Auxiliary at the seventeenth annual spring conference in Marengo. Twenty four delegates and fifty auxiliaries attended. Mrs Irene Drake spoke and presented York a pin for hitting the county membership quota. Other officers reelected include George Branch as vice chairman and Gladys McCallister as secretary and treasurer.
