Iowa Senate passes tax relief measure for farm land in cities
In Des Moines the Iowa Senate approved a bill to grant tax credits funded at 660000 dollars yearly from the state general fund for farm land lying inside city school districts. The 38 to 6 vote faced sharp opposition from E P Donahue who urged fiscal restraint. The bill caps school tax at 15 mills for such land and diverts the remaining levy to the district from the fund. The measure moves to the house with amendments and includes governor appointment of a business manager.
