Grassley faults EPA waivers amid biofuel quota exemptions
Senate critic Grassley says the EPA granted dozens of hardship waivers to small refiners for the 2017 Renewable Fuel Standard, undermining nationwide ethanol and biofuel blending rules. About 25 to 30 refineries sought waivers as the agency reviews applications following a court ruling, with Andeavor Calumet and Exxon Mobil among potential beneficiaries. waivers reduce overall renewable fuel requirements and do not rebalance obligations to other refiners.
