Weather forecast shows generally fair conditions with cool nights around 30 to 35 and a Thursday high of 45 to 54. Five day outlook calls for near normal temperatures with no precipitation expected. May include sunrise and sunset times and various local measurements. Also lists a series of local divorce decrees births and obituaries with names and addresses.
Dr. Bush argues space efforts must advance military goals including missile range and reliability. He says peace-time organization lags and admits propaganda gaps in space exploration but believes delays won’t severely harm relations with hesitant nations while they scrutinize U S strengths and intentions.
The Iowa supreme court ordered dismissal of damage suits against car owner Ludwig Benda after Drexel V. Dungy settled with the Rock Island railway for a 1956 fatal collision near La Porte City that killed Dungy and Benda’s wives and three children. The court ruled an injured party may not double sue after signing a release.
Miami's new city manager ordered the portraits of his 16 predecessors removed from the office reception area. Melvin Reese says the portraits give the impression of governmental instability. The line of city managers began in 1921.
A moving storm north of Iowa and through northern Minnesota raised a fickle forecast for Iowa. A trailing cold front pushed south, bringing moderating winds while Pacific-origin air cools Iowa by night.
Ralph Nicholson of the ANPA warns Washington over Post Office policy. He accuses the department of miscalculating costs and creating confusion by subsidizing some classes through higher rates for others. He calls for sound management and fair funding of public services.
Morton notes Nixon won Wisconsin with about a 2.1 margin over Democrats in the unopposed Republican primary citing large Democratic ballot crossover. Nixon says he did not campaign here and thanks Wisconsin Republicans for their work. White House aides decline comment on the results.

West Germany lodged a formal note to the Soviet Union condemning Khrushchev’s anti Germany campaign during his France visit. The government said Moscow had not acted in the spirit of easing tensions since 1955 and warned that Russia’s rhetoric arouses hatred of Germans. No break in relations was threatened as Adenauer aimed to assert opposition before a summit.
Petitions with 897 signatures seek creation of a community school district joining College, Swisher, Jefferson and part of Monroe districts. Hearing set for 10 a.m. Monday April 18 in Linn County Courthouse with boards of both counties to decide. If approved, voters in each district will finalize merger. College currently runs the high school for all four areas.
Suits totaling 50385 filed against Richard E. Kemp and Frank Beers by Donald A. McGriff and his father Martin R. McGriff for injuries from a Sept 10 1959 collision on Fiftieth street NE near F Avenue. Donald 16 at time of crash suffered spinal injuries affecting eyesight and memory. damages include 25000 for Donald and 25000 plus 385 for Martin.
A district court lawsuit accuses Emmett J. Keogh Cedar Rapids director of inspections of withdrawing approval for a fireplace because the manufacturer failed to pay dues to a building organization. Plaintiff is Raymond Su.
Indictments returned against three men by the Linn County grand jury. William H. Beaty charged with embezzlement by agent for L. B. Price Mercantile Co. involving $525.60. George Starr and Donald Fritz charged with desertion and abandonment of a minor child. All three free on bond.
The widow of attorney Julian Frank, killed in a plane crash linked to a dynamite bomb, resumes modeling work at $40 an hour to support her two children. She moved from a $40,000 Westport home to a smaller rented house and employs a maid. Frank’s life insurance remains unpaid.
The Hague AP report says the World Federation for the Protection of Animals urged TV and film companies to skip showing movies or bullfights in countries where bullfighting is illegal and where public opinion opposes the practice.

Swisher criticizes chiefs' knowledge and defends outside agents.
City lawyer David McGuire and Mayor Jim Meaghan stated the goal is to finish the matter quickly and avoid quarrels. Officials described the stop work as a necessary code enforcement move to protect the city's position in the ongoing court case.
Moscow Radio reports Aleksey Polikarov, 16, plans a 6,250 mile trek to extend his earlier journey from Omsk to Leningrad. He previously logged about 2,200 miles in this long distance walk.
Glen V. Heady and James Don Mayer announce their bids for Linn County second and third district supervisor seats. Incumbents Miles Sutera and Dudley Henderson seek Republican nomination. Terms start Jan 1, 1962, with the filing deadline next Tuesday. Heady, 57, from Mt. Vernon, has oil and gas business ties. Mayer, 25, from Central City, runs a truck line and works at Collins Radio.
Kennedy scored a solid win in Wisconsin with strong showings in Janesville Sheboygan Madison and LaCrosse defeating Humphrey amid cross over voting uncertainty. He carried key non Catholic and industrial regions while AFL CIO urged union support. the religious issue appeared reduced.
Waterworks crews fought a 4 inch main break in the 700 block of Third Avenue SE. Residents on Eighth Street between Third and First Avenues SE and Seventh Street between Fourth and First Avenues SE lost water since dawn. Crews worked since 7:30 a.m. amid cave-ins and utilities. repair expected Wednesday afternoon.
