Hanson motel owners sue over $85,000 takings loss
Vera and Leonard Hanson file an $85,000 damage lawsuit against the Iowa Highway Commission challenging a condemna tion ruling on the Western Corral motel at highways 13 and 64. They say the value of their 5325 acre site fell from 110000 to 25000 after taking one tenth of an acre and easements on 2.9 acres, making the property unsellable and forcing patrons to use a frontage road access two miles from Marion and Cedar Rapids.
