Iowa City plans new art museum near Gibson Square Park
University of Iowa officials propose replacing the flooded museum with a new art museum at Gibson Square Park near the Main Library at Burlington and South Madison. Director Sean O’Harrow says the plan links the museum to the library’s south side and addresses flood risk for the Pollock painting Mural and the campus collection after the 2008 flood.

Iowa beef checkoff plan aims to boost promotion funds
Gov Branstad signed a law enabling beef producers to decide on a state beef checkoff. If adopted, producers would pay an extra 50 cents per head, potentially raising about 1.5 million dollars annually for research and public education. Beef competes with chicken and pork as per capita beef use has fallen from 84 pounds in 1976 to 51 pounds in 2013.

Gas prices edge up for summer, but not last year
Gas prices rise with the summer driving season, yet costs to fill a tank are expected to stay below last year. Cedar Rapids drivers paid about 1.98 per gallon and Iowa City about 2.10, while statewide average sits at 2.05, just under the national rate.
