GOP pushes deeper cuts beyond Vilsack plan
Iowa Republicans press deeper cuts to the 2002 budget than Gov. Vilsack’s 144 million proposal and oppose tapping the emergency fund. The 79th General Assembly foresees a lengthy session beyond April 27 as leaders weigh additional reductions to balance the budget with slower revenue growth.
