No Boost in Corn Prices Planned by OPA Bowles Says
OPA Administrator Chester Bowles said there will be no increase in corn prices for the crop year ending next October. He noted no justification for higher feed prices given current feed and livestock price relations and cited farmer receipts of $1.13 per bushel on Feb 15 1944 as four percent above national parity. He warned a price rise would not boost production and would raise prices on livestock products harming most corn feeding farmers.
