Eight-string fiddle maker hones from scraps in Minnesota
Fred Collmann, a 76 year old fiddle maker and fixer from Good Thunder Minnesota, has built and repaired about 78 to 80 fiddles since starting in 1933. He uses native woods and unconventional methods and aims to create an eight string violin with four paired strings, insisting age of wood and careful curing prevent warping.
