Elkader Police seek separate building for city department
The Elkader Police Department with two full time and three reserve officers occupies a 12 by 12 foot basement office in the Opera House. Damp conditions hinder equipment, and officials seek grants totaling about 40 000 to buy a building and modernize with new gear and a database. Donations may fund future equipment and a public interview space.
