Maintenance work to shut Duane Arnold plant
The Duane Arnold Energy Center will shut down Sunday for routine maintenance and expects to return April 17. The outage aligns with low demand before summer. IE generating stations or neighboring utilities will supply power during the shutdown. Maintenance includes cooling tower and heat exchanger adjustments and system inspections. The plant has operated about 85 percent since June 1981, with a 1982 refueling scheduled for September.
