Iowa expands Medicaid delivery through managed care system
More than 90 percent of Iowa Medicaid patients will receive services via managed care organizations under the new system. The transition affects those in the Iowa Health and Wellness Plan, many low income families and children, long term care recipients, and home and community based service waivers. A few remain in fee-for-service through specific programs. Cards are mailed and delivered by the enrolling MCO. Patients may switch MCOs until June 16 for good cause. Enrollees can contact DHS at 800 338 8366 or visit dhs.iowa.gov/iahealthlink for information and guidance.
