Deaths of 3 Service Men Of Archdiocese
Three archdiocesan service members were listed as dead or missing this week. One, Elmer Swis, died October 9 when LSM 15 was sunk near Okinawa after a typhoon. The other two, Ferris Cammeresi and Ralph Henzerling, were reported missing in action in Italy since late 1944 and March 1945 respectively, with Cammeresi later presumed dead and Henzerling missing in action. Swis leaves a widow, parents, a son, and siblings in Cincinnati. Cammeresi and Henzerling are survived by immediate family.

The Little Sisters of the Poor run two Cincinnati homes St Josephs at 2024 Florence Ave and St Peters at 476 Riddle Rd caring for about 400 aged poor. Each house hosts 17 sisters and a Franciscan or Jesuit chaplain from local churches. For 75 years Cincinnati has offered few vocations to this order amid a diverse, accepting community.

Monsignor Feldkamp Dies at 48 in Arkansas Diocese
The Very Rev. Monsignor Joseph C. Feldkamp born January 27 1897 in Cincinnati died in Little Rock Arkansas on October 24 after a brief illness. He was ordained in 1923 and served as treasurer at Little Rock College until 1926. He is survived by his brother Frank Feldkamp and sister Sister Mary Albert of Hamilton.

A former Cincinnati youth Hubert Schmidt, J.J., will join 16 other Jesuits as they are ordained at St. Mary’s eye Kurseong India on Nov. 21. Schmidt, a St. James school graduate, entered the society in 1982. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Schmidt, long-time St. James parish members, now reside in Lake Worth after earlier stints in Wyoming and Sharonville.

Two Catholic volunteers join the 1945 War Chest drive Ernest Braun associate chairman in charge of solicitation of federal employees outside the post office and Andrew Matzer chairman in charge of publicity displays. Braun of 3417 Erie Avenue Cincinnati belongs to St Marys parish Hyde Park and heads the employers service division of the United States Employment Service. Matzer is with Rollman and Sons and has volunteered in war bond drives, the Red Cross drive, and served on the Fire Prevention committee.
