Dayton Diocese to consecrate new parishioners mass

The Most Rev Edward will consecrate parishioners at Holy Trinity Dayton on the 40th anniversary of the church. Ising, former assistant pastor in Cincinnati, serves at Holy Trinity since 1860 amid a debt-free parish of about 400 families. The jubilee also honors two other 1905 graduates from St Franklin and St Marys.

Degrees and Certificates To Be Awarded at Purcell Auditorium

One hundred twenty five degrees and certificates will be awarded at commencement exercises for units of the Athenaeum of Ohio on Tuesday June 5 at 10 a.m. in Purcell High School auditorium Cincinnati. Funeral services for Fr. G C Grunkemeyer held in Cincinnati

The funeral mass for Fr. G C Grunkemeyer of Our Lady of Lourdes church was held May 30 at the Bridgetown road church. The Most Rev George Behring led the requiem and Arch­bishop John MacNicholas gave absolution. Born Oct 6 1890 in Cincinnati, he died May 26 at Mercy hospital Mariemont in his 55th year. He served St Martins Cheviot then St Johns Westchester and since 1929 Our Lady of Lourdes. Survived by his wife Anna Otting Grunkemeyer sister Bertha ing and brother Leo Grunkemeyer.

Solemn Mass Marks Nun Centenary at Cincinnati Hospital

A Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving was held May 30 in St. Marys hospital chapel Cincinnati to honor the centenary of the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis who run the hospital. Celebrant Rev Urban Koehl with deacon Rev Sylvan Becker and subdeacon Rev August Framer, with Monsignor R Marcellus Wagner of St Lawrence Church Cincinnati delivering the sermon. Among early benefactors named are J Nurre and Mr and Mrs Reuben Pringer, Cincinnati philanthropists, as the order established the hospital in 1859 as its first foundation.

Service Deaths Rise in Diocese Week With Wounds

Casualty reports from the archdiocese show one death from wounds two wounded in action and one listed as missing then safe. Pvt Robert Lang died of wounds May 2 on Mindanao and served 16 months overseas. Pvt Te was in action in April and May with the airborne infantry. Pfc Gene Stautberg, 20, brother of Stantberg, also served with the airborne.
