Another Horse Thief Captured by Sheriff Sheffner
Sheriff Sheffner brought Jesse Farrell to Rawlins on Monday after Farrell was charged with stealing a horse from C. R. Countryman of Split Rock. At the Tuesday examination before Judge Tubbs, Farrell admitted taking a saddle and offered it for sale for 25 dollars. He had been discharged from work for Duncan McLean and allegedly stole a suit, a saddle, and a pony from Countryman on Sunday night.

Rancher’s Daughter Theft Leads to Deputy’s Capture
A young thief stole a ranchman’s horse then fled toward Rawlins. He lost the trail, was intercepted in Rawlins, and eventually captured by deputy Countryman, then sent to the Countryman ranch for holding. The prisoner pled guilty and awaits sentence in district court.
