First Train Over Burlington Line Reaches Town

The 61st train on the new Burlington line between here and Thermopolis arrived Monday from the east aboard a special bearing road officials. The party stayed overnight, conferred with local representatives on construction, then moved to Thermopolis Tuesday morning via the Kinmington track and crossovers completed last week to the refineries.

Workman Injured at Refinery Incident

Marcus Howard and Mary Carroll wed in Catholic church

The marriage of Marcus Howard and Mary Carroll occurred in a city Catholic church on a Wednesday morning last week officiated by Rev. Father Brysato. Attendants included Nellie Carroll of Harrison and Justice McCarty. After the ceremony the couple visited Douglas for the State fair and then Casper to settle, with Carroll returning home to Harrison. Howard is a respected blacksmith with two years at the Rocky shop. Carroll is a popular Harrison girl who recently moved to Casper.

Petroleum Refinery Operating Expands Output At New Plant

Two stills at the France Petroleum refinery near Caspar are in operation. Four more 880 barrel stills will be built to reach a daily capacity of 5,000 barrels. Output is supplied by a pipeline and a relay pump. R. D. Brooks, Frank France company GM, moved offices to Denver. L. A. Reed will head the operation department. Keystone plans to build a pipeline to handle belt wells as Casper becomes a major oil center.

State Fair Returns Strong at Ninth Annual Douglas Sale

The ninth annual state fair sale at Douglas drew large Casper attendance, fine weather, and high cash receipts totaling over 9000 dollars, a figure surpassed only in 1900. Geo. F. Stephen's horse Ruddie won one race, with NC High School exhibit drawing attention. Miss Bess Cheney left for New York with Miss Ruth Cheney, after accompanying Mr. Cheney to Chadron.

Natrona County District Court convenes with large docket

Natrona County District Court opens under Judge C. K Winter with about seventy civil cases and eighteen criminal matters on the docket. Preliminary work and witness summons fill the day while jurors are empaneled. Final naturalization hearings are held for several immigrants. Multiple criminal charges are listed, including burglary, larceny, assault, murder, and selling liquor. Change of venue to Converse County District Court, meeting in February, is granted.

Reed Interests Will Not Develop Asbestos Property

The asbestos deposit near Cooper Wyoming, exploited by A. E. Mintum and associates, will not be taken over by Reed Shoup Interests which held an option for six months. The plan proposed forming a new corporation with 64 million dollars capitalization to acquire and reorg the properties, but the venture was dropped.
