Lander Man Nearly Duped by Bunko Scheme on Market Street
Leonard F. Abel of Lander Wyoming was lured by Frank Smith and confederates into a race fixing ruse. Abel deposited 1700 with First National Bank after a fake 5000 check and 100 investment, then accompanied Smith to withdraw the certificate. Police arrested Smith on grand larceny charges as the court case began before Police Judge Weller.

Fatal Sulphur Fumes At Wyoming Mine Near Thermopolis
Four miles from Thermopolis a ranchman Martin his wife and niece died after entering a mine shaft accessed by a twenty foot ladder. The niece cried out as she reached the bottom and Martin fainted while rescuing her. Mrs Marlin escaped after sensing the deadly fumes. They were overcome by hidden poisonous gases in the shaft.

James Turnbull arrived as Nickle Mate railroad representative to solicit wool shipments, replacing C. W. Burroughs. Mr. J. S. Miller recovers from a sawmill accident and plans no rebuild. Nineteen machinists work on Wyoming Consolidated Asbestos mill with fiberizers due to operate by end of July. International investors Count Alfred Puy Fontain, Ayrault, and Carlos Mayer visited Franco Wyoming Oil then departed for New York.
