New York's lure and a penniless Ohio boy's journey
An Ohio boy, age fifteen, rides freight trains into New York seeking the big city life. A court recalls a similar past case and praises his spirit while detailing the harsh reality of NYC living. The narrative contrasts Broadway dreams with a cramped room, a low wage, and a mother’s concern as he endures the metropolis.
