Arbor Day cleanup and tree planting efforts expand citywide

The Vie Club and others organized an Arbor Day cleanup on April 25 with extensive citywide trash removal and tree planting. Over 6000 trees were secured for sale before Arbor Day, with pupils planting on school grounds and more trees planned for the library park Park Addition and public playground areas.

Natrona County High Awards Grand Stand Contract

The Natrona County High School board awarded Ferguson company the grand stand contract for 2500 dollars. The stand will be built on the athletic grounds along the west side to seat about 1000 spectators and enclose the grounds for clear viewing of events.

Band Concert Supports Community Seed Fund Drive

Last Friday evening in the library the Civic Club committees served food and coffee for a benefit to be used for a season as the ground prepares for sowing grain. Many attendees are planning spring planting, delaying until weather improves as moisture issues hinder germination in a cold season.

Senior Class Play Enthralls Casper in The Sophomore

The senior class presents The Sophomore at Bell Theatre to a large Casper audience despite weak advance sales. Cast includes Dann as Stewart and Evelyn Wallace as Hope Alden with Miss Shaffer as Violet and Weeks as Professor Alden. The play ends with Stewart choosing integrity over cheating and the team preparing for the Thanksgiving game. Tickets 15 and 25 cents.

Natrona High Declamatory Contest Set in Casper

Natrona County High School holds its annual declamatory contest at the Central building Casper Friday evening May 12 with four contestants Norah O Mara Ina Hiliker May Presburg and Willow Dobb. The winner will represent the school at the state contest in Laramie May 18. Admission is 20 cents and proceeds aid the contestant’s expenses for the trip.

Jimmie Boyd Dies at Camp While Cook for Tobin Outfit

James Boyd known as Jimmie, about 70, died suddenly last Friday at a camp near Salt Creek where he cooked for Steve Tobin's outfit. An inquest found death due to natural causes from his age and condition. burial followed in a local cemetery Monday afternoon.

Cantillon Promoted to Iowa Division of C N W Railway

Cantillon, promoted from the Wyoming division to the Iowa division with HQ at Eagle Grove, left Casper for his new office. C T Boone of Iowa will replace him and has moved to Casper, occupying Cantillon’s former Park Addition residence. Weather note reports recent cold caused lamb deaths but moisture promises abundant feed for sheepmen this summer.
