Wyoming christening sets launch for new battleship

On May 25 the battleship Wyoming will be launched in Philadelphia with Miss Dorothy Eunice Knight of Cheyenne to christen the ship. The event includes a silver service grant of 7,600 and details the vessel’s size, speed, armament, range, crew numbers, and projected cost. Governor Carey notified by Navy Secretary Von L. Meyer that the ship would be floated around May 25, with Knight chosen as sponsor.

Burglar Strikes Mrs McClure Home During Luncheon

Burglars entered the McClure residence Wednesday night and stole 610.60 in cash and over 100.00 in linen. Linen was partly returned Thursday night, most pieces marked, raising suspicion of the thief. A gold watch diamond ring and other silver were left untouched. Mrs McClure suspects a named accomplice and alerted authorities. Next Sunday Ge o Collins from Denver will join Whettlin Blakney to handle fittings and alterations. High School Field Day on April 28 features events from sprints to relays with prizes from Casper merchants and local sponsors. The program includes dash events, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relay races, with prizes ranging from cuff buttons to cash and gear. The event aims to choose the school representative for the State track meet on May 19.

Boysen Dam Sold To Wilson Interests In Big Horn Area

A stockholders meeting of the Big Horn Power company approved Dr J M Wilson and associates to buy Boysen dam for 450000 dollars. The deal closes with new owners to supply irrigation water for Lion span Riverside irrigation areas around Shoahont, enabling regional development.

Pipe Line Deal Advances Oil Venture to Casper

Mid-West Oil Co. closes pact with National Tube Co. at Pittsburg for piping from Salt Creek fields to Casper. Inch diameter pipe weighing 18 pounds per foot, costing 112,000,000 will need 44 freight cars. Pipe to arrive in about 30 days and construction to begin on line and refinery before winter. Refinery planned north side of river west of town with railroad stub switch to connect to main track.

A quirky electric window sign in Don Lobdell’s shop shocks passersby as metal braces on plate glass trigger jolts. Town jokers lure strangers to touch the nickel corner and feel the charge, leaving them “remembering” the corner. Don remains unfazed and promotes his advertising display amid lively crowds.

Grand Central Bar Displays Largest Ubia Collecti on

Dave Davidson new Grand Central Bar proprietor decorates interior with mounted heads animals birds claiming the largest Ubia collection owned by one man. The mounts include bears elk mule deer antelope eagles wolves and rare birds all killed by Davidson. Patrons compliment his display and the cost of acquiring it. J W Stachell lands commissioner from Shoshoni visited and rode around town noting its rapid growth and bright future prospects.

Sheep Theft Arrests Taint Wyoming Sheep Ring

Dick Adams, a Shoshone reservation rockmaster, jailed in Fremont County on 400 sheep theft charges from J. A. Delfelder of the Wyoming Wool Growers Association. Ed Sanford, employed by Davie, held and reportedly willing to burn evidence. James Dahl and Frank Murray, Indian reservation shearers, also arrested.
