Burlington Rushing Plans for Canon Route to Thermopolis
Thermopolis records show six major railroad construction firms visiting to bid on building the Kirby to Thermopolis line and onward through the canyon to connect with the North Western near Shoshoni. General Manager G W Holdrege says crossing the mountains by Buffalo creek would cost $1,000,000 more, and no traffic agreement with the North Western is yet set. Firms bidding include McArthur Bros of New York, Maney Bros of Oklahoma City, Phelan & Shirley of Omaha, Winston Bros of St Paul, A Guthrie & Co of Minneapolis, and McShane Bros, with representatives named.
