Burlington and Colorado Southern resume track work near Casper

Railway activity resumes along the Burlington network with tracks from Orin Junction to Casper and extensions Wellington to Cheyenne. The Lio to Walsenburg link and related lines near Wellington are expected to be completed by July 15 followed by heavy construction toward Casper, with costs estimated at millions and large crews mobilized.

Casper Fire Showed How Oil Steam Lit Up Slough

Casper residents witnessed a striking blaze after railroad waste oil and steam escaped into a northern slough. Fire crews fought the inferno, but the smoke tower rose a half mile high and could be seen for miles as waste gathered in the waterway.

Mysterious Death of P J Holleran Shocks Casper

P J Holleran died suddenly in Thermopolis last Tuesday morning after illness. Born in Janesville Wisconsin about 32 years ago, he moved to Casper five years ago and worked in the saloon trade. He leaves a wife and five children, oldest eight, youngest a baby. Remains shipped to Janesville for burial. funeral held yesterday. J P Callahan left Tuesday to aid the children at their father’s funeral.

Senate Bill No 180 on phosphate oil and gas disposal

Senator Gorman introduces Senate Bill No 180 in the 62nd Congress to reserve all US and Alaska lands containing phosphate oil asphaltum or natural gas from entry and disposal until proper permits are granted. It sets fees ten dollars for applications a mechanism to limit permits to prevent monopolies and restrict alien or foreign ownership with terms for leases and development periods.
