Midwest Company Expands Drilling At Dead Horse Creek Field

Midwest company nears drilling start at Dead Horse and Dugout creeks with a camp eight miles from base. Stockbrothers hold the drilling contract while water shortages delay actual drilling. A new four mile pipeline will double capacity to move oil from North to South camp, and a telephone link will connect camps to supply lines. Bird & Hanley plan to drill next, and a Casper-sourced crew laid the new line. A fire at Salt Creek schoolhouse prompted quick evacuation and a near-miss thanks to prompt action. A new Salt Creek meat market set for May 15 amid store renovations, with Mr. C. E. Norris in charge. The Midwest store will expand and offices move to the bungalow, a new officers’ bungalow to be built east of the present site. Wye Crude Oil Co. plans to drill on Section 28 See. 28, adjoining Hjorth Co.’s ground, following last winter’s success. Roy Torrent, Francis Brown, and others visit Casper and Glendive for business. Mrs. Dave Lewis heads to Casper. Miss Belew Wallace returns from Casper. local drillers Bob Morrison and B. Williams depart for Glendive.

Midwest hotel project moves ahead with bond sale

Indications show construction on the Midwest hotel to start soon as bonds meet the required amount. Buildings are being moved from the site amid a petition urging a second floor reception hall or club room to host convention business sessions or entertaining visitors. The company does not plan to use the entire second floor now and the request for club rooms is expected to be granted.
