Secret Service Agent Mortally Wounded in Scyenne Incident

Thewke Holland, a Justice Department agent, died at 2 a.m. from wounds after being shot by Yee Geow while escorting Oriental passengers. Geow faces two murder charges after Holland’s death. co-defendant John Federden was killed instantly. Edward P. Fischer Arrest Ties to New York Bomb Plot

Edward P. Fischer was arrested in Hamilton Ontario on insanity charges related to the New York bomb plot. Officials say a blast killed 34 and bombs with 400 to 600 pounds of T N T aimed at Morgan and Treasury buildings were involved. Fischer warned Wall Street on September 15 and was last seen in Toronto before leaving September 14.

Drunken Friend Shoots Pal During Quarrel

J. L. Keller, 35, was shot in the left shoulder blade about 2:30 AM in his room at 535 West Midwest Avenue by James Harte after a drunken quarrel. Harte was arrested minutes later. Keller’s condition improved but officials described the wound as a skin injury. Harte to be turned over to county authorities.

Troops Deploy to Birmingham Coal Field to Restore Order

Casper Day at Fair Tops Week Attendance Record

The sixteenth Wyoming state fair drew massive crowds on Casper and Old Timers Day with about 7 500 attendees. Notable visitors included ex Gov Carey and other Republican leaders while cattle sheep and agricultural exhibits praised Natrona County apples winning ten of eleven first places. Airplane stunts and races drew wide interest from across the state.

Italian Reds Try to Lower Yank Colors

Reported to the state department today an attempted violation of the American consulate at Gonos Italy by workers displaying red flags who sought to force the lowering of the American flag during a funeral. Vice Consul Murphy at Gonos relayed the incident through the American embassy at Home. The funeral was of a worker shot during disturbances with Malian police on September 10. Murphy stopped the crowd and ordered them out. Italian authorities expressed regret.

Brother-in-law accuses Fischer of knowledge in Ontario case
