Dispatches from Warsaw and Moscow report halted Polish advance amid heavy fighting with Lithuanian forces near Orany. Russia and Poland discuss armistice terms as tension rises in Riga reported negotiations.
Moscow dispatch says Russian troops stem Polish advance and gain on the front as fierce fighting continues. Riga reports two delegations may sign armistice and preliminary peace order on Friday.
A wireless dispatch from Moscow claims General Marino, once a Ukrainian commander under Wrangel in South Russia, defected to the Bolsheviks and received command under Soviet administration to oppose Wrangel.
United Press reports fourteen hundred Russian sailors rose in Petrograd on September 28 triggering two days of street fighting. Chinese mercenaries crushed the revolt and 54 mutiny leaders were executed. Four hundred sailors were killed in the clashes.
London reports Terence MacSwiney, hunger striker, joyful as brother Peter from New York arrives at Brixton prison. An open letter from Mrs MacSwiney’s sisters appeals to presidential candidates for messages of hope for Ireland. In Ireland, Wexford court judges Richard Corish and Md Foley were arrested as troops surrounded the town hall.
United Press reports extensive military raids in Belfast last night and today with several arrests on Feinera patrols near Cork. No bloodshed or trouble occurred during the operations.
Washington reports the American Red Cross has appropriated one half million dollars for famine relief in the Peking China district. The action aims to aid victims and stabilize urgent humanitarian needs amid the famine crisis.
Figures from the census bureau show Wyoming's 1920 population at 194,402, up 48,437 from 1910. The state ranked eighth in area with 97,604 square miles and an average of 1.5 people per square mile, marking continued rapid growth since 1870.
