Cleveland, the American League champions, defeated Brooklyn 3 to 1 at Ebbetts Field in game one. Coveleski pitched effectively and limited the Dodgers to a late rally as Cleveland built a two run lead by innings. Watson Field crowds numbered 23,894 as the title favorites opened with a win.

Adjustment in Salaries of City Employes Authorized

The city council finance committee will review the entire salary list to recommend revisions based on service, merit, and duties, noting some pay disparities. Former Casper Women Held in Tate Capital

Cheyenne dispatch reports Mrs. Leroy H Brown, 64, of Riverton, and her Casper family, including daughters Mrs. Beanth Scaffner, 20, and Mrs. James Brown, 17, with son L. Brown, held on immorality charges. Smidt of Chadron faces transport and accomplice claims. the family had fled Casper a month ago. Federal authorities were briefed on the case.

Theater secured for GOP rally at America on South Center

The America theater on South Center Street will host a Republican rally Thursday night with Governor W L Harding of Iowa as speaker. The Young Men's Republican club secured the venue. Mrs C K Winter leads music with a quartet and a ladies octette. seating is ready and the event begins at 8. John Dillion of leading will speak at the Young Men's and Young Women's Republican clubs gathering with Mrs Burton Lester providing music.
