Grand Central hotel proprietor Alex McDonald returned from two months touring the Similkameen district reporting marvellous mineral possibilities once transportation arrives. Hundreds of prospectors are there, with Copper Mountain densely staked, and Granite recording office six miles above Princeton. Archie Grant and Jim Darcy stay to work the property.

Post Office Moves to New Building in New Post
Postmaster Angus Cameron moved the boxes and fittings from the Pioneer store to a new building a few doors west, recently constructed for postal use. The site offers more space and convenience for the public and clerks. The Columbia Stage Co may stop hauling sacks here. the new telephone office will open soon in the same building with a sound proof cabinet.

Powder Magazine Explodes Near Brooklyn Tunnel
A powder magazine near the Brooklyn tunnel exploded after a brush fire approached the site. About 5.5 tons of powder were destroyed. no one was injured. The blast damaged the magazine and nearby structures, with rail damage noted four miles away. Contractors and crews continue rail and grading work along multiple spur lines and tunnels.

Close of Public School Proceedings and Trustee Elections
Certificates were granted yesterday in the public school to Minnie Haegerman for general work to Ralph Wolverton for Department and to Jennie McRae for attendance. Near Death's Door: Lavalley Illness Amid Lake Return
Elie Lavalley fell ill shortly after returning home on the lake last Wednesday. Desperate conditions and best medical aid from Cascade and the Forks helped steady him by morning. His son Archie also grew seriously ill but is now steadily improving.

Trail smelter buyer Moore visits town and new stage line
D W Moore ore buyer for the Trail smelter was in town yesterday. The Flyer Co. now operates the stage line with directors G W Hutching J I Daniel J C Hill and F M Hallett as manager. Fire at Greenwood wiped out the Clarendon and International hotels with about 16 000 loss and Morgan the Clarendon owner faces 3 500 in damages. Volunteers praised for firefighting efforts.
