A bridge construction accident at Sutherland Creek bridge three miles from town killed John Girard, 27, of Arn prior Ontario, within minutes after a timber fell as workers placed a post, the coroner calling no inquest. Work halted for the day. no blame assigned.

Checks Recovered After Bank Fraud Attempt at Gladstone
Mike Kelly attempted to dispose of stolen bank and fare checks at Gladstone Monday night, stolen from the Divide hotel weeks earlier. Owner J H Graham was notified and arrived, calling Constable Darraugh of Onsende. By Tuesday night 10 when Darraugh arrived, Kelly had left. Graham and Darraugh were both very upset though some checks were recovered.

Repairing Dewdney Trail Gains in Traffic
James Kirkup and a force repaired the Dewdney trail near the lake this week. The end of the trail was cut out and windfalls removed, improving access for the large daily traffic and Rocelard race horrors were transported this week.
