Boundary freight rates set for Robson Penticton line

F W Peters of the C P R at Nelson and chief engineer Tyear agree on a freight tariff for the Robson Penticton road. The Boundary Creek branch is to carry goods once Cascade is reached, expected about August 1. Tracklaying nears Cascade with seven bridges remaining and Cascade residents eyeing August 1 for the engine roll.

Dominion Day Celebrations Across Cascade Grand Forks and Nelson

Cascade hosted a Dominion Day celebration drawing crowds and a strong Gateway City contingent. Grand Forks featured a brass band, fast horse events led by Ernest Kennedy and Claude Cregan, and rain halted the Monday program. Greenwood, Nelson, Rock drilling contests, and lacrosse saw participation with M Byrne and E Stevenson of Rossland winning all three rock drills.

Cascade to get a local telephone exchange soon

Cascade will gain a telephone exchange in the near future if enough business men subscribe. Local manager Cameron of the Columbia Telephone and Telegraph Co has met with good response this week, and installation will begin shortly. Each line will cost $3 per month.

Christian Lake section reports thriving mineral development with new claims weekly. Key projects include Cannon Ball at English Point led by J W Spaulding, Victoria tunnel under D C Beach, and Chamberlain on McRae Creek with sylvanite finds. Managers Littlejohn and Alexander push tunnels and Mother Lode work proceeds at Urab Basin.
