Public oblique notes on the 1900 to 1901 transition mix solemn vows with merriment. New York to mark midnight with choirs and the City Hall anthem. Toronto and others contemplate similar rites. Local items cover assays results, mining talks, births, marriages, welfare notices, and town movements.
Notice that an application will be made to the Parliament of the Dominion of Canada at its next session for incorporation of a company to build a railway and telegraph system from Cascade City on the Canadian side near the International Boundary to near Carson in the Osoyoos Division, Yale District British Columbia. The plan includes branch lines, power to expropriate lands, tolls, and related rights, dated December 10, 1900, Rossland BC.
Albert J Ashcroft of Greenwood acting as agent for Ross Thompson of Rossland intends after sixty days to apply for a Certificate of Improvements to obtain a Crown Grant for the Undine Mineral Claim, Yale District Grand Forks Mining Division. Action under section 37 must be commenced before the certificate is issued. Dated October 9, 1900.
The railway system lists the all-rail route linking Spokane with Rossland Nelson and intermediate points, with connections to Great Northern Northern Pacific and O R N at Spokane and Nelson. Day trains run at 8 00 am 11 50 am 7 00 pm 9 45 pm 11 00 pm arriving 6 40 pm 8 10 pm 7 16 pm. Night trains depart Spokane 7 00 pm arriving Rossland 7 00 am. General Passenger Agent H A Jackson.
