Local town hall gathering scheduled for Friday evening November 29 to discuss a local crisis. The editor argues it costs over 1200 dollars yearly to run the office and that six fifths is spent locally. He urges buying from Carthage merchants, warns against undercutting by outsiders, and says bids will come from Rushville Knightstown and Greenfield to favor local shops.

The course opens with Melvin Robinson delivering the first talk in Columbia Hall on Tuesday evening December 3. The initial two numbers have public endorsement as top quality. The Committee hopes for strong reception of the lectures as an intellectual treat for the community next Tuesday evening. Also notice the obituary: Mrs. Sarah Schaffer aged 79, widow of William Schaffer and mother of Mrs. Murray Rawls, died in Indianapolis on November 21. Funeral services were held at the Murray Rawls residence officiated by Rev. Giulispie. She married William Schaffer on February 15, 1842 and had long affiliation with the M E church. Buried in Foust cemetery.
While cleaning a dress with gasoline yesterday Miss Bertha Hill suffered severe burns to her hands and arms when the gasoline ignited. There was no fire prior to the incident and no explosion. rugs and fabrics caught fire but were quickly put out with prompt help.
