Humiliating Confession in Fairmount Speech Plagiarism Case

Perry Leach of Fairmount Academy confessed to plagiarizing from William J. Bryan in the Spiceland inter-academic oratorical contest winning first place. Leach will return the prize money after faculty and principal Schoonover, who reported the copying, urged restitution. Robert A. Roberts, who placed second, will receive the prize and honors.

Sabbath School Opens Bright with Spirit Theme

Mrs Lizzie P Hill led the Sabbath school in a well attended session. The pastor preached on the Holy Spirit as the force behind creation and biblical appearances of the angel of the Lord. The Friends held a 15-voice chorus and a Cook Book committee planned publishing the Carthare Friends Cook Book. No evening services due to anti saloon league event.

Methodist church Sunday activities and service report

The Methodist church held a 9:15 Sunday school with average attendance and $1.15 collected. The 10:30 morning service featured a sermon on What Think Ye of Christ focusing on Christ as man, God, and Savior. The Lord's Supper followed the sermon. The Junior League met at 2 with 29 attendees led by Raymond Fleener.

Worth League met at 6 30 with Ella Marlatt leading a temperance gathering replacing the usual service. Rev F Tincher preached on Prov 10 2 with focus on saloon costs, tax impact, and no profit from wickedness. A duet by Lineback and Stinger preceded the sermon and more songs followed.

Children’s Day at East Street Church in 1880s era notice

The Brooklyn Eagle reports a Children’s Day service at East Street Church with music, flowers and decorations to support Heathen Missions.
