Ernest Binford visited Richmond friends on Sunday while M A Catt conducted business in Indianapolis last Saturday. Rev Thomas Holding returned from Bartholomew county. Many attended the Walmut Ridge quarterly meeting. The township common school graduates will hold a commencement at the township hall on Saturday evening June 6. Names of recent examination passers include Beeson White Binford Tulley Gray Wall McCorkhill Franklin Jessup. Blue River township canvassed April 15 by eighteen canvassers for the State Sunday school association. report by Miss Lydia Starbuck shows 229 families visited, 978 people, 537 church members, 441 not church members, 396 in Sunday school, 582 not in Sunday school, 741 Bibles, 19 families without Bibles.
Miriam Hill aged ninety four of Main street Carthage Indiana died Tuesday afternoon after a long illness at her home She was born October 8 1802 in Randolph County North Carolina married to Aaron Hill in 1823 She aided Union soldiers and deserters during the Civil War and served as a church elder Funeral at 11 this morning from her home with interment at Friends cemetery
Parmerton notes Mrs Ed Bitner is recovering. Six converts were immersed at the Blue River Baptist church on Sunday. Mrs Folsom from Lincoln Nebraska visits her parents Mr and Mrs George Dillman. A Peters of Switzerland county arrived Friday to visit his uncle W W Peters.
Charlottesville reports include M E Quarterly at Cleveland next Saturday and Sunday, Nellie Woods buying millinery for May Quarterly trade, and Sun May Quarterly gala day for the boys. Local visits feature Bruzan Purdue returning home from Eden and Sam Shultz family visiting in Raysville with Joseph Weesner. Mrs Mary Pratt conveyed her daughter Gertrude home before she returned to high school in your city. A strong west wind caused a light shower and minor street damage. George J. Girty and wife visited Darrina Smith in Wichita then went to Indianapolis. Josephine Shaw of Raysville attended select Quarterly at the Ridge with Maggie Shultz and others.
J Watson Hildreth received a life sentence at Rome New York for planning to wreck a New York Central express train to rob passengers. Plato and Hibbard were sentenced to twenty years each on two indictments, or forty years total. The crime near Rome last November killed the engineer and badly hurt the fireman and railway clerk. The trio were youths under eighteen with well to do parents. Fred Bristol, already dead, was also connected to the case.
