Cuban Odyssey of a Secret Service Agent in 1898
A Secret Service member recounts a mission to Cuba in April 1898, detailing entry through Tampa, Havana’s streets and harbor, and initial orders to study exports. He travels to Santiago de Cuba, visits mines, and recalls Columbus discovery notes, Spain’s early rule, and wartime contrasts between peaceful scenes and soldiers with muskets.
