Explosion at nitroglycerin magazine near Knightstown claims life

Knightstown Indiana March 12 A massive explosion at a nitroglycerin magazine a mile and a half northwest of town leveled the brick building and factory killing Steven A Clark his team and wagon and injuring the site. The blast at 10 35 this morning shattered windows across Carthage and caused a large crater with debris scattering for hundreds of yards as residents mourn the local victim and await official findings

Old Fashioned Rolling Event At Rural Farm

Old fashioned log and underbrush rolling took place near Farmers Station on the Lra Earnest farm last Thursday. Twenty men cleared seven acres, restoring a bygone farming pattern with joy and camaraderie. A noonday dinner was served at Robi Whitton’s home. Participants included Chris Whitton, Arthur Bitner, Cans Leisure, Albert Kaynest, and more.

Newsom Clark Wedding in First Friends Church

Miss Gertrude Clark and Frank Newsom were married last evening at the First Friends church parsonage by Rev. Alpheus Trueblood. The bride, a Grant county girl, will reside southwest of the city, and the groom is the son of W. P. Newsom of Rush county. They will live in Carthage after a short honeymoon. The couple are welcomed by the community and wished a prosperous life.
