Keturah Pickering Miles born November 11 1828 near Ludlow s Creek Ohio died June 30 1905 at Carthage Illinois. Married Israel Miles in 1863 near Pleasant Hill Ohio. he died 1873. Two children one died in infancy. She taught school and served as a Friends minister espousing plain faith and martyr spirit amid persecution. Her life reflected deep religious conviction and steadfast adherence to Quaker principles despite hardship.

Child Escapes Death After Laudanum Ingestion
Three year old Marsh Workman of Len Workman’s family near here swallowed part of a bottle of laudanum Thursday of last week. Prompt medical aid by Dr. F. W. Creger saved the child after six hours of treatment. The patient was out of danger ten hours after ingestion and is now recovering.

Death of Col C B Taylor noted for likeness to McKinley
A special Indianapolis News dispatch from Connersville dated July 10 reports the sudden death of Col C B Taylor a fifty niner era resident of Wilmington Ohio. He had traveled there with his wife for a niece wedding and died suddenly en route. Known in insurance circles and area, he resided in Connersville for years and once lived in Carthage. Also noted is his resemblance to William McKinley and his elderly Wilmington father. Chicken thieves staged a large raid across Middleton and surrounding towns, stealing about 80 young and mature chickens from Alfred Parry Isaac Ellison and other coops, aided by a one horse wagon. News records Van Tuyl lost four young fry. Lovett's grocery advertises jars wax and lids.

Miss Mae McFarlan Drowned at Rushville Picnic
Miss Mae McFarlan thirty daughter of Mr and Mrs Ben L McFarlan of Rushville drowned in the Blue River at Morristown Blue River Park while attending a Ladies Aid Society picnic. She stepped into a deep hole while wading and cried I am gone as she disappeared. About twenty women and girls were present. the body was recovered about five o'clock near the sinking spot and returned to Rushville for burial.
