Passes Away After Lingering Illness Pioneer John P Parker Dies

John P Parker a county pioneer died at Walnut Ridge after a long illness of cancer of the liver. Autopsy found 134 gall stones in the gall bladder. Funeral at Walnut Ridge church Tuesday at 10, Rev M M Binford officiating. Parker born in NC in 1823 and brought to the county in 1826. survived by seven children. He served the community, helped schools and church, and lived a conscientious, hospitable life.

New Court House Contract Awarded in County

County commissioners awarded the court house project to P. H. McCormack & Co. for 157 143 dollars after a bid dispute with J E Gibson of Logansport who charged unfair handling. Ripley Township Republicans Pick Delegates in Convention

Ripley township Republicans met at Newsom's Hall to choose delegates for State District Judicial Congressional and County conventions. E N Hill led after scoring 77 votes but withdrew to favor W G Allan who became the state delegate. Resolutions praised the State Central Committee against 1885 gerrymander and urged four year term limits with no second terms.

County Treasurer Sells Court House Bonds to Cooks of Chicago

County Treasurer Thompson sold the $160,000 court house bond issue at 5 percent interest with $10,000 annual maturities starting 1901. Fourteen bids were received. the Cooks of Chicago offered $172,125 but later failed to post a $5,000 forfeit, prompting Thompson to seek another purchaser.

Posey township Republicans held a spirited meeting at Carr's hall last Saturday electing George N.
