A compendium of civic and social items from Carthage and nearby towns. residents travel, illness, visits, and small business notes accompany announcements of local clubs, concerts, and the coming electric line project. Highlighted are Beck's Art Studio events, church meetings, and the Carthage Music Club proceedings with notes on members and performances.
The Ripley township Sunday Schools plan a joint meeting Sunday evening at Carthage Christian church starting at 7. Program includes audience songs devotional exercises report on the Indianapolis Field Worker’s Conference, symposia on training for effective Christian service, family worship home training and church training, plus Carthage High School Glee Club, misc business and a duet by Misses Laura Hill and Blanche Gray.
A bereaved family thanks neighbors and friends for aid and sympathy during their bereavement. M C Young and family express gratitude for support and kindness received.
Class No. 8 of the M. E. Sunday School taught by Prof. J. H. Scholl enjoyed a social at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Walker on Friday night. Hearts of red and white decorated the parlors while an archery contest used heart targets. Winners included Mrs. Katherine Miner for nearest center shot and Craig Coffin for most points in the heart hunt. About forty attended with music, recitations, and refreshments featuring Neapolitan cream and white heart cakes. Guests included Mrs. Margaret Nixon of Indianapolis and Miss Cassady ofville.

Fashion sheets advertise discounted fabrics and batting items. Cotton prices have risen, but the seller claims ample supply at last year’s low prices. Offers include Comfort Batting, Quilt Batting, Snow Flake quilt batting, Comfort Calicoes, Twisted Robes, and Silkoline with various sale prices.
Out of sight, cotton prints jump in price while dealers claim to have bought a hundred bolts to sell at old prices. Indications say heavy 5c muslin will soon disappear, but stock remains, and a warning is issued to customers.
Early shipment sold out with another lot en route and expected today. Pattern unique to us and backed by a fine line of white goods in stock. Prices 10c to 30c per yard.
New stock for men and boys now on display featuring a fine line of hats and men’s all wool suits priced from 4.90 to 15. Also boys’ knee pants 25c, fleeced hose 10c per pair, and travel trunks. Special display and remnant box offers accompany the arrivals.

A meeting will be held at Union Chapel Wesleyan Methodist Church in Posey township Rush County Indiana on Wednesday March 11 1903 at 7 o clock p m for the purpose of electing three trustees for said church.
The Hyperian Literary Society at Walnut Ridge staged a last Friday evening program titled a Monthly Meeting of fifty years ago. The costuming was good and the order of business well carried out. The work shown reflected careful preparation and success. A large number of visitors demonstrated outsider interest in the society’s activities.
