The Elwood Hill Post No 372 G A R records the death of comrade J H Bill and offers sympathy to his family. The resolutions praise his fidelity to the lodge and the principles of Friendship Love and Truth. A copy is to be placed in lodge minutes and sent to the Carthage Record and O F Talisman for publication.
Mrs Clara Henley was at Greenfield this week. Cyrus Cox was at Rushville Monday morning. Glen Rawls was in Indianapolis the first of the week. Mr and Mrs Fred Gottlieb were in Indianapolis Sunday. Eugene W Hutchens sold his lot in Rose Hill addition to Allen W New for $100. Attorney Gates Sexton of Rushville attended to legal business here Monday. Special discount on shoes tomorrow Saturday Feb 11 at Wooten Hill's. Mrs William Shinn has had a severe attack of tonsillitis for two weeks. Roy Peters of Cincinnati was in town Friday and Saturday. He is pleased with his new position. Mr and Mrs Josiah T White of Richmond were guests of Mr and Mrs Ammyel B Hill Sunday.
Col. Albert E. Boone announced in Cleveland that all contracts for the Black Diamond road to Port Royal have been signed with an English syndicate backing the venture. He said the line will cost 59 million dollars, be double tracked throughout, and pass through rich mineral districts with very slight grades.
Indiana legislators considered and acted on a contributory negligence bill with changes to burden and hardship, the senate passed a county records inspection bill, and the house rejected a bounty proposal for sugar beet production. Other measures approved included a state board of pharmacy, regulation of poisons, fertilizer control, local option referendums, and a state bureau of labor protection focused on minors.
