Pastor W. T. Crawley invites attendance as the church marks its annual Home Coming Day on Sunday October 2 with morning and afternoon services. Special speakers and a pitch-in dinner at noon follow a week of activities including Sunday School at 9 30 and a Young People’s Society meeting Monday at 7 30.
Sunday services as usual with record attendance hoped. Preaching at 10 30 A.M. by new pastor Rev Nathan Schoolfield. Schoolfield plans to meet the membership. Evening service at 7 30 P M. All are welcome.
Members attending services in Rich mond this year week due to Yearly Meeting. No mid week activities. Next Sunday features Rally Day with special exercises and a call for full Sunday School participation as plans for the October first Sunday start a new year of work. Morning Meeting at 10 30 A M Evening Meeting at 6 30 P M.
Ripley Country Club started its year with a noon luncheon hosted by Mrs. E S Ruby. Thirteen regular members and two honorary members attended. Officers elected include President Mrs Fred McManus Vice President Mrs Ralph Winslow Corresponding Secretary Mrs Harold Ruby and Recording Secretary Mrs Hugh Weber.
Attorney General James M. Ogden issued an opinion ruling the new $1.50 tax rate limitation law takes precedence over the $12,000,000 budget appropriation law. He advised Phil lip Zoerchey and state tax board to set the 1933 rate at 15 cents when calculating the tax, despite revenue constraints, replacing the prior 29 cent rate.

Posey Township 4 H club announces its second annual corn show for the second week of December at Arlington school. The Lowell Norris farm in Noble township, Rush County, sold Tuesday to Erbert Schroeder of Cincinnati for 120 acres valued at about $12,000. Local agent Chase Maury arranged the deal with John H. Kiplinger handling the legal work. The sale reflects strength in prime local land and boosts optimism for agricultural conditions.

Orville Adams a Knightstown youth is charged with simple mayhem for allegedly biting off Meredith McManus nose during a fight in Carthage. Prosecutor Jean Kiplinger filed the affidavit. Adams fled before arrest by Sherri Ray Compton. McManus is a Henry County resident.
