Agricultural economists forecast hog price cycle through 1964
Purdue University economists project hog prices to dip to 13-14 dollars in early 1964 then rise to 17-17.50 dollars before easing. They urge selling hogs on price spikes, caution purchases of feeder pigs, and breeding sows to hit peak prices in summer 1964. They foresee modest gains in fed cattle later, record broiler outputs, and corn around 90 cents a bushel with the 1963 crop loan rate at 1.07 dollars.
