Steer Show and Sale Returns With Record Entries
Fifty-one Rush County 4H Club members entered 86 steers for the Seventeenth Annual Southeastern Indiana District 4H Steer Show and Sale on September 7. A total of 274 steers were entered with 123 Angus 72 Hereford and 79 Shorthorn. The Rushville Chamber of Commerce and local merchants sponsor the event as part of the Rural-Urban program. Gasoline fumes cause two Knightstown boys deaths
Two Knightstown youths David Lee Williams eight and Wayne Alan Estell seven died of asphyxiation from gasoline fumes after a leak flooded a canvas boat in a garage. Police and Henry County coroner Dr. Calvin Steussy ruled the deaths accidental after the boys disappeared Monday and were found Tuesday night.

County Baseball Schedule Drawn for Seven High Schools
The county coaches and principals' association set a schedule and officers at a Durbin Hotel meeting. Opening games occur at three sites Wednesday with the county tourney starting September 27. Regular games at 3 45 p m Tuesdays and Fridays. New officers include Byron Smith president Jim Cheesman vice president Kirby Overman secretary and Tom Potts treasurer.
